String quartets on a Friday afternoon are truly divine. Especially when the four musicians are people with families with young children finding that rare hour we are all able to play. The four people are amateurs with other careers, the chance was to let all that go and to focus on keeping the beat, melody and supporting voices and momentum going. Today we almost played Beethoven op. 18 no. 1 but one of the parts was missing so in an hour we sightread Schumann Op. 41 #1 and Mendelssohn Op 44 no. 2 well some of it. It was magic how the hours of love and support from the families and teachers from our youth saw us through and propelled us forward able to meet each others need to make some music. It was an hour to cherish and hold up as divine and magical.
