Suzuki always said that every day you eat you should practice. My intention is to play every day and I usually bring my violin when I travel. Practicing in hotel rooms and new places often reveals new aspects of the music or practice routine as the acoustics are different. Now and then I encourage students to play in their bathrooms for an auditory change of pace.
Attached is a pdf of the practice chart I use with some students. Often a notebook that fits in the violin case pocket with practice notes written out by teacher or parent or student works best, but the practice chart helps direct a balanced practice routine.
